Is it just me or was this the[i/] most difficult Everyman ever? I seriously thought it was going to be a DNF.

I still have no idea how 10a is parsed - I can see the definition but have no idea how it's derived from "top spy"!

Anyway, I somehow managed to limp over the line so all's well that ends well I suppose:-)

I also found it a difficult Everyman.
I wonder whether there's a 250 year anniversary of sorts...not just "CC"s, but each perimeter of the grid features a "CCL" string. I'm not aware of any "CCL" (Commonwealth Cricket League? 🤣) organisation.

Hmm, my Chambers has only 2 definitions, the first is 'belonging to, in, or near the ...." and 'principal, dominant, most important, essential'

If you look up the grid entry for 10a, one def is "A secret service agent who supervises other agents"

Sorry Buddy, you said the noun which might sort of work but I'm still not convinced.

Ah - I see that you perhaps have the wrong grid entry?
