I solved this (around my tenth Everyman puzzle) in record time for me.

But I don't understand how every last clue works. In particular,
3 Across.:

"A road race, one through island heading west: it's withing your reach" (10).

I see the island heading west, but the road race is stumping me.

Arghh. I meant "... within your reach".

TT is often used in crosswords for race.

I enjoyed this, thanks to Everyman. Slightly more difficult than the Everyman norm, but not excessively taxing.

Co-COD 4 and 11, also enjoyed 25 and 1d.
FOI 9, LOI 22.

3a - shouldn't it be 'one through "an" island heading west'? otherwise how do you account for the the 3 letters after "a road race" and before the 4 letter "island heading west"?

My (actual) need for new glasses has caused me to commit more typos than usual, sorry about that.

Thanks Daz but you are right, the clue does not say "one through an" which I think it should, otherwise I can't see how those 3 letters are accounted for.

Daz, I'm American and it took quite a while to build up my lexicon of UK crossword terms and abbrevs.

Brendan, you're causing me to doubt it now, but I parsed it as "a" for "one" and "in" for through.
