All done i think. Easy enough except parsing 23a and 3d got me stumped.

23 In the end, burnt serving of beef heart T-U-P

(nothing to do with the Captain being called Donald?)

3 A-E-many options, none of which I am sue of but I went with the one that means "aid"

Hi Clark,

23a - 1 letter "end of burnt" + 4 letter "serving of beef" - definition is "heart"? as in a suit in card game.

3d - 2 letter "notice" goes around both 1 letter "bachelor" + 1 letter "Everyman's beginning" - definition is "to tuck in, not seizing the day" (being lazy basically)

3d - apologies "tuck in" is part of the wordplay telling you to put those two letters inside "notice" leaving the definition as "not seizing the day" but basically meaning the same thing.

Never been a big card player. Thanks brendan.
ps
One letter of 1d might bother USA solvers...

Ah, thanks Clark - I wasn't aware the answer had a different spelling in the US.

Look forward to hearing from Geeker, Darla and our other friends from across the pond:-)

Easier than recent Everymans I thought, only one to hold me up was 5, which I needed to look up to confirm, although I was pretty sure of it.
FOI 1a, LOI 5, liked 7, 16 & 18.

I know what you mean Dave,

I was sure they were spelt differently but must of had a scintilla of doubt somewhere in the back of my mind because I too double-checked in Chambers to make sure:-)

I’d bet my bottom dollar that the cousins will have no difficulty solving 1d!

True Dave, but I do think they'd have preferred 3 zeros after the 1 rather than the 2 shown in the clue:-)
