One of the changes isn't in Chambers but it is in Merriam-Webster, so I'm assuming it's an Americanism.

yes, it's also in Oxford Languages, so almost certainly American. Original of 27 in Chambers but you have to search ....

Well, that was a stroll in the park — I had more trouble logging into Crossword Help Forum since it wasn’t accepting my password...
Started solving clues at 09:30 and cracked the last one at 10:30. Then 10 minutes to work out the endgame instruction; this would have been much quicker if I hadn't interpreted "12 NEW words" as "12 ADDITIONAL words". D'oh!
(This may seem like snail's pace to most of you, but the little grey cells don't function as well as they used to when you get past 70...)

I would think 70 minutes for a genius was respectable in anyone's book - but then I am over a dozen years past 70 ...

Agreed, prospero. But I wasn't preening, just trying to illustrate just how much below Genius standard this offering is.
