Did most of this at midnight as I could not get to sleep, all bar the NE corner and 18d which came to me when I woke up. Enjoyed it. I liked the Spoonerism and the link between 15 and 16 down. Lots of clever dds this week. Re 16 one of my pet peeves in online reviews is that there is never an option to leave no *****, you have to leave at least one no matter how awful it was. Yes I am that grumpy old woman Jenny Eclair talks about, πŸ˜€
Hope you are all enjoying the autumn sun.

Druh pp is usually clued as very soft or very quiet (pianissimo in music). You will get there, keep at it.

Can I ask on this forum? If not please direct me elsewhere. I recently bought a guide book (for my wife who is beginning to indulge in cryptic crosswords). On the fly leaf is a tempting clue which suggests that once you can get the answer you will no longer need the book. The solution is not provided. I cannot fathom it. Here goes.

At the end of the road, turn east, and you will find the courts. (5)

Any suggestions?

Yevrah: dates? If so, not a great clue cos of the superfluous β€˜the’

I feel that "the" twice used is to either make the surface reading better or perhaps to try and mislead

Thanks both and agree on dates (courts). I had done some searching and that is all that has come up.

Have to agree, not a good clue, so not a good example for a guide.

I'm also stuck on the NW corner. I can't get the Spoonerism, 10 A or 8D, unless to consider means to form.
