Yes you could see 9a as a triple homonym. The same word with same spelling meaning a sports fixture, something whose head gets hot when struck and set alight, and the person who is destined for you!

I solved 9a as a double definition but I can see a triple definition in there with a bit of overlap, with "One's destined" as in the life partner sense, then the destined... hot head and sports event ones.

Ah! It was the hot head that had me stumped. Now I get it. Many thanks

I struggled with 9, one of the last in, until I figured out the "hot head". Like some others, took it as a d.d. but I agree on the possible t.d.

Hi, all. Late to this after playing a gig in the Devon sunshine.
Enjoyed it (thanks, Everyman) but am totally stumped by 7D despite being confident of the crossers.

Druh - how are you getting on? Great that you persist. It will get easier and more fun.

Loved the hot head clue

Seem to have the 2nd and 3rd words of 7, but not the first

The less I talk about it the better.

I’ve bought books, study all the blogs and 225 and I seem to be regressing!

I may start crocheting soon instead.

Evening all. I have been lurking in the shadows absorbing your wisdom for the past few weeks as I get into the swing of Everyman's style. I have got better and better each week needing fewer hints each time. I have done OK this week. It took a while for the penny to drop on 7d - I had the wrong middle word which didn't help. But 1d actually has me stumped. I can see words that fit with the 1st and 3rd letters that I have, but can't link any of the up to the actual clue. What am I missing?

MrSausages,

1d: definition "Range" (verb). Parses as a 6-letter word for "demonstrated" (think mathematics, for instance) with the first and last letters removed.
