I have all answers and traffic lights but unable to do gridfill sadly. And don't know the coloured theme words.
Is it too much to ask, now it's Wednesday, for the location of long answer aa. I have it starting at 22 and ending at 31 but there seems to be other possibilities.

I'm trying not to be a bad loser, but the multiple occurrences of E, S, L and R at the traffic lights, combined with so many roads being two-way surely means only a handful of people will complete this, which is sad.

Struggling to decide on routes taken for the answers.

Does the "in sequence" mentioned in the preamble mean that "a" starts in the top left cell and "b" begins where "a" ends then "c" starts where "b" ends etc?

That's correct Brendan, - see post #42.
Good luck, you'll need it.

Finally made it, helped by figuring out what the thematic items in the coloured squares were and then Googling.

Thanks to Soup for a very challenging but rewarding puzzle:-)

Well done Brendan!
I have failed, first IQ in 4 yrs.
But Buddy, Drxx, Prof Maisie and you have solved it, so that's four! Or three.
