Thanks, Buddy. I thought that “multiple occupancy” would have been specified in the preamble - Dr Hamish being a scholar as well as a gentleman (and a member of my old college to boot). But always good to check in the mirror before pulling out 😉.

Can anyone give a hint for clue 'r'. I have an answer which suits the definition but can't see how the construction works. Thanks

You'll probably have the first two letters - for the rest it's a word meaning 'accused of', with two letters swapped around.

An eventful journey! It brought back a vivid memory of trying to drive some years ago through a town in the Algarve whose road system was plainly modelled on the Hampton Court Maze. Some of the clues were really excellent. Lower case l made me laugh out loud. Many thanks, Soup.

I have spent most of the day on this and have no wish to fall at the final hurdle, which is clue 'ae' - "Sacking elderly rabbi first of all". I have the first 3 letters as a word for rabbi, which would indicate the def is the clue's first two words, but cannot see how the last 6 letters fit with the rest of it. Help would be much appreciated.

SoR. Def is just the first word. The last bit just means the rabbi bit comes before the elderly.

I'm thinking I may not finish this despite having most of the answers.
Which definition is not in dictionary? I don't have answer A so have a few traffic lights missing.
I saw the earlier hint of course but still can't see it.
Also have a gap in my sequence, k, l,m. So a help with l. would be ideal.
