The clue,'Ruffled father crazy to go topless' seems fine. As you say, silly, crazy, loses its first letter, goes topless, leaving us with Fr, illy, ruffled.

Thanks, Gooner. You had me confused as you gave the clue without the vital 'crazy' in it... then I saw you'd mentioned that in the parsing. Sometimes an answer can just look odd because we've stared at it and/or the clue for too long!

Malone and anyone else reading this, can you please keep bumping Duplicate Threads so that it hopefully lives above the Private Eye, THEN we might not get duplicate Private Eyes (or is that wishful thinking)😂

Norah, I'm not sure what you're meaning here; I can only see one thread for the current Private Eye, so where is the duplication?

CLARIFICATION OF MY POST ON PRIVATE EYE DUPLICATE THREADS

Gooner, I’m taking preventative measures, there isn’t a duplicate thread yet but there have been duplicates for the past several issues.

I have no idea why but the Private Eye generates more duplicate threads than all the other crosswords put together, it drives me absolutely potty😂
