Have obvious answer to 20a - Quite the gentleman, my Roger, in the sack. (4-4) but can't parse it

Assume the definition is the first 3 words and crosses are
_ E_L - _R _D.
Enlightenment would be much appreciated

Thanks to all who explained the "entail" clue.
But surely it's obscure to the point of absurdity.
(It still doesn't make much sense to me).
