Ah, now I see! Many thanks, Brendan, for your prompt and clear explanation, I'm not sure I would have got it otherwise. The main impediment would have been the supermarket trade name - generally not in favour of setters using brand names in crosswords but that's my particular hobby horse. Also may I take the opportunity to say thank you for your weekly assessments of the EVeryman crossword, always illuminating!

I'm still proofing my friend's thesis for his PhD so have been slacking off a bit lately with the Everyman and Guardian Prize but aim to be back doing both again soon:-)
