Took as long to stumble across the answers to 13a and 8d as it did to do the rest, and I'm still none the wiser how 13a parses. Can anyone shed some light?
Also Jono - could you post the link to that article? I was unable to find it.

The first and last three letters are the "call for attention", y is the variable, and the remaining three letters are the "information".

Hi Phil,

13a is four letters for ‘call for attention’ outside one letter ‘variable’, three letters ‘info’, itself around one letter ‘one’.

Here’s the article… https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords/crossword-blog/2022/nov/26/meet-the-setter-the-observers-everyman

…the names of former setters are shown in the paragraph just above the picture of the book. It’s the answer to 7d I can’t explain (if indeed this is part of the theme), perhaps someone knows.

Thanks Jono! It was that pesky single-letter 'variable' that really stumped me (I always forget about that one)! But the (archaic) call for attention is a new one on me too. No wonder my head's smarting from all the scratching. Many thanks for the link too.

Finished but not with a stuggle for 11a, 7d and 8d .
For 8d think "married for 50 years".

Late starting this one, but just finished.

Jono I cannot find a setter connected with 7d apart from two who have the first few letters (Paul Henderson aka PHI and Samer Nashef aka PHILISTINE)

There's a piece in the print paper about #4,000 which we hope will appear presently online.

In the meantime, all past setters have vintage clues reappearing; the others were written in collaboration with the other two living Everymans. Every Everyman's real-world name is included somewhere.

@Loubyloo10

I like your thinking for 8d. That works
