Roof, all your crossing letters are correct. Yes, the game is 2 letters, a very common abbreviation in crosswords. Then it's 2 more letters, the one, then a common crossword word for "about", definition "break". 14 has a one-letter American then a 6-letter type of 11 that I had never heard if, definition last for letters, in a not very obvious sense.

Hello again, Roof. 23d is "naturally possessed" in what seems to me a not very obvious sense - if you are naturally possessed of a characteristic then it's ------ rather than acquired. Much easier, in my opinion, is to think of the other half of the clue: in what is a sandwich filling to be found? And what slightly shorter word does that sound like?

Sorry, Roof, just in case you can't decipher my typo-riddled writing, "the one" should have been "then one", and "last for letters" = "last four letters".

As others have said, I found this easier than usual for a Guardian prize xword, but the main difficulty for me was that I'd never heard of a large proportion of the types of 11.

I have now got answers for 13d and hence 13ac and for 14ac, though I cannot fully parse 13ac and 14ac. I can see neither the game or the the American kind of 11.

This leaves me with 23d, 26ac and 27d. I'm no longer bothered if I finish it. But it would be nice to know the answers. Is the sandwich filling in 23d some meat?

I've got the game in 13ac. And I think I understand the parsing for 14ac now. That just leaves me with the three outstanding ones above. I can think of a word for naturally possessed, but it would mean I've got a letter wrong in 29, where I quite like my answer, though I can't parse the the last three letters. Oops, I've just seen my mistake with the last three letters, but I still don't see 23d!

My FOI was 18d. I can't to LOI yet, but my COD is 9ac. Closely followed by 24ac and 29ac, which I now have right.

Obviously! I've been very obtuse today. I think that gives me 26ac, though I've no idea what the 11 is. And I've found a word to fit 27d.
