Thank you for your reply Quixote, do you know or could you recommend any entry-level or easy listener puzzles? I believe you also compile or set puzzles whichever is suitable. if that is the case I spent an enjoy10 or11 hour flight reading your book on the way back to Canada, could give me any tips on reading the instruction or understanding them?

Having read the answer published today, I am still no clearer how the extra letters 'instruction' is to be executed. I've tried several ways to interpret what it means but none yields the result indicated in the solution. If somebody could enlighten me I would be very grateful.

Take the 9th letter of every Down clue. That spells out THE PLACE TIME AND ENGINEER which you must highlight in the grid.
