Gitto - your "chronological order" confuses me. Using the dates on the wiki page the three I have (including the first two subdivisions) are nos. 3, 5 and 9. I can't see another which allows a reasonable wordplay-related interpretation, except perhaps 8.

How on earth do you parse 38? The definition is obvious, and I’m pretty sure I’m clear on the misprint, giving letters 2,3,4 - but how does the rest of the clue give the surrounding 3 letters??

I'm stuck inside with a dose of covid so was able to look at the crossword earlier than usual this week. All done now but please can someone explain the wordplay for 28d?

I thought it was the first three letters being the elevated design followed by three letter word for *wing (as a camera may do)

kitsune - it’s as jordan says, I think, but make sure you have the correct spelling variant.
