I got everything except 18D. There's a couple of answers I can think of that would fit, but neither fit the definition as I parse it (unless it's a Britishism or something I'm not familiar with). Any hints? I have all the crossing letters.

Hi Lexo,

18d - The "communist" is a 4 letter abbr. and what you would say if you were to "call for (him/her) to leave?" - definition is "reiterate" (without much thought or effort)

I think the term for "communist" in 18d is a "Britishism"; it's not used in the USA as far as I can tell. Stateside, the plural thereof mostly is slang for 14d in Picaroon's Prize...😂

Apropos nothing Geeker, other than it reminded me of an American:-

As I mention on the Guardian blog, I was at a family do this weekend, during which I promised to look for a specific letter from a now deceased relative. While searching, I came across a letter from an American girl I met at a "medieval banquet" at the Beefeaters by the Tower of London in 1981. She was from Greenwell Springs in LA, so miles away from you but it's late and the site's quiet so thought I'd tell you anyway 😃

Isn't it amazing the things one finds when rummaging through old papers and photographs? - walks down memory lane invariably follow!

Brendan, funny coincidence that I heard the Tom Petty song She was an American girl on my car radio a couple of hours ago. [But not Petty, a cover by someone I didn't recognize from the 2001 "Concert for New York City" - today is 9/11.]

Coincidence indeed! I was just watching Tom Petty ( the real one 😂) playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - the one where Prince plays "that" solo!!

It's funny because I, along with millions of others, think the solo is beyond brilliant but I heard Dhani Harrison say in an interview that, during it, all he was thinking was how unimpressed Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne would be with Princes' OTT "guitar hero" performance!

I think Brendan if you watch 'You Only Live Twice' Bond gives the correct temperature somewhere in the film.

Well remembered Rocky. This is the clip you’re referring to I think…
