I have spent an hour or so on this whilst watching the Spurs v Wolves game and cold solved around half. Problem is, I can't seem to get on Artix' wavelength at all. I'll be interested to hear what others make of it. I shall plough on!

Like you, I'm finding difficult but the key for me was solving the single 7 letter and two 6 letter downs - this allowed to start writing in some across answers.

Problem is the preamble says " the theme and so explain the relevance of the yellow cells which will allow solvers to deduce how to complete the rest of the grid" - so I'm not even sure I should be entering stuff!

Have a complete grid but had to retrofit some of the parsing . Still thinking about the endgame......

Just finished, (with a lot of help from Chambers Word Wizard!). The right hand side was hard, but I can only find one word to fit each of the blank 5-letter lines so I'm fairly confident they're the right ones. I still don't quite get the title though.

Brendan, since there are more across entries than clues I assumed it referred to completing the remainder.

sloth, I think the title just refers to the four 5x6 "mini-grids" that are used in the endgame. The Quinapalus Word Matcher or something similar will be most handy in the final step, I think.
