Aha, parsed 14d OK now but 16a (=embracing) baffling me.

(why can't you edit posts?) I mean 26a.

26a remove the first letter of one of the words in the clue and 'at sea it' around traditional South America abbreviation.

14d unfortunately I haven't fully got to grips with either

Got it. Thanks. Sigh, the reason for my puzzlement was that I had inadvertently altered the last letter of 19d to 'S' instead of what I had originally entered; hence I got something similar with Quick Solve that meant the same thing but did not parse. Phew. I'm happy any time I get this done on the Saturday.

Well in between garden sitting, cooking and Nordic Noire I have now finished. I'm not 100% on Nutmeg's wavelength but I enjoyed this as a long slow process.

FOI for me was 15d. LOI 24a.

I loved the discontented use so my COD is 17a. Thanks Nutmeg for a good Saturday's work.

I enjoyed 14 because of the deceptive use of "baroque". Saw the solution straightaway, but initially rejected it as non-baroque. 🤣 Only wrote it in after careful study of the clue.

Only just finished this now, was difficult I thought (was not helped by my internet going off for 5 hours yesterday and 4 hours today).
