15d - You need to split the clue in two.

First part is the definition -"Draughts in US" (US spelling) then the second part is the wordplay - "premier's residence spoken of".

Could someone put me out of my misery on how 17a parses

Anagram "TREATS L(ad)Y HERE" (&lit, perhaps?)

I believe 20a was a sequel in which Cage, Cusack, Malkovitch, etc, were going to attempt to not overact. Never got made.
