Teacher welcome. Last week when the forum was down I was a lost man. Good to have you on board.

Rocky paths winding round, the inspiration is to be found
Following us now with sound coming from earthy ground
Keeping up an open mind
In everyone you'll find a part to help you climb the walls
Built up by time
Never close yourself to more, learn we can, that's for sure
And it isn't hard to endure a heart that has an open door

Those lyric transcriptions were written by someone who is clearly deaf though lol. Endure should be ignore etc.

Pretty sure it's rocky paths winding round as well.

Finally finished! Got off to a good start this morning, but ground to a halt with only 1/3 completed.
Thanks to some of the clues here, I've actiually completed a weekend prize crossword - first one! I normally go for Everyman and then 5 or 6 clues in the daily Grauniads.
I'd quibble with "Going out.." in 21a thinking that "Go out..." would be more appropriate.
(Un)fortunately, we're in Covid isolation at the moment so had plenty of time to devote to this!

Hi Brendan and PDS

Back again after watching some TV and doing the washing up. Many thanks for your hints and corrections. I've now finished and am just trying to spot the theme answers. So far I've only got seven!

Like PDS, I did a lot of maths at Uni, but it was a very long time ago and few of the common ones are here. But my Chambers dictionary has a list.

My husband knew 18ac, but he is much more of a computer nerd than I am.

I was so pleased last week when I finished it all on my own, but the forum was down and I couldn't boast. But I found this one hard. I hope to be back next week.

Hi everyone,
Back from Australia where I followed the forum and managed to do crossword online. However it is good to be home and have my Guardian paper again! Found this quite difficult but with your help managed to finish over breakfast this morning.
Agree with you Roof about the ads at bottom of screen.
Thanks and enjoy rest of weekend.

I’ve finished apart from 4d, which, thanks to the forum, I think I may have but don’t really understand the significance of the first 2 letters. I gather I’m not alone in my puzzlement! I have 12 of the thirteen characters for sure - could somebody confirm that the 13th is well hidden in 12a? Thanks.
