Ah ok willing is the 2nd word in 22A I see, I was trying to parse ambassador as first and last letters of both words.

I know the city but thought it was a bit loose for "primitive" to be honest.

As a prefix it means "primitive". I can't give an example without spoinling, but look, for instance, at the movement titles in Mahler's 2nd symphony.

I think the old city (2 letters) is not meant here. the 2 letters can be used in a combined form with other words meaning primitive, original or earliest

Am embarrassed as people seem to think 6 across was easy. I have an answer that fits the definition but am baffled by the doughnut bit, even allowing for the usual crossword sense of 'picked up'.

Hi everyone

After last weeks's easy crossword, which I actually finished on my own, I'm actually finding this hard. At least this week I have access to The Forum. I've just read through all the clues and only got one. I must try again and look for the "low hanging fruit" and see if I can get the theme.

My brain feels deader than usual, so I am not hopeful. I'm very distracted by all the ads now appearing at the bottom of this screen for the first time. What do you all think?

I'm being super dim. There's only one sign of the zodiac that fits my letters, and I still can't see/hear the shape of a doughnut.
