Brendan, in 1ac you replace the Queen, (2 letters, reversed) with the printer’s spaces, in a word meaning demand.

In 10d a 3 letter Irish word for girl is replaced by a shortened word for throb .

In 14d the word for goodness is the earlier 3 letters, not 2, and the remaining 2 letters mean unctuous as in sanctimonious

Ah! I'd mistakenly assumed the "goodness" was the usual 2 letter "irrational" but I see it now.

Many thanks Quisling, much appreciated:-)

Dylan. For 19ac, think of a 6-letter slang word for nose of which you use only the first 3 letters (blocking the other half).

At 35 dn you're looking for a 3-letter word meaning sickly - "pale" would be another synonym.

Hope this helps.

All done. But, notwithstanding the comments already made, I still can’t figure the title. Without giving away the theme, can someone nudge me in the right direction? Not a vital bit of the puzzle, but I like to get each bit in place :-)

Think of the first word of the song title as the usual cryptic indicator, applied to (the singular form of) the second word: ?AN? ?OVERT?

Happy Easter all!

Would love parsing for 6 D : “fixed problem arising out of eccentricity.” Only the first three letters make sense to me, the last two….not so much!

Also 26 D “Computers in island working up a list” - I keep finding an extra consonant that doesn’t seem to be accounted for in the wordplay…

Thanks!

Hi BM,

6d - 3 letter "fixed" minus abbr. for "eccentricity" + 3 letter "problem" both reversed/arising.

26d - 2 letter "working" reversed/up + 3 letter "island" reversed around 2 letter "computers"
