All done but I can't parse 8d. I assume I'm missing something obvious, so I'd be very grateful if someone could put me out of my misery.

8 down: reverse of word for love (in the sense of nothing) with its first letter as extra. The next 3 letters are an abbreviation for "in English" (it's based on Latin)

Thanks Loge! I had the first letter combined with the last three and couldn't see past it.

A familiar theme for me and no problems in grid completion but as with others some difficulties in parsing 33 mainly because I was taking the last 4 words as the definition which seemed to work ok until I tried to work out some wordplay. Thanks to Chalicea.
Still waiting to hit a brick wall with this years puzzles - must be a stinker coming up soon.

All done and dusted but I'm stuck on parsing for 31ac "Strip party ultimately entertains rector, 26"
Any help would be appreciated.

Def’n is answer to 26. (Not common but in Chambers!)

Wordplay is word for strip with last letter extra, with the y from end of party at the end and an r for rector in the middle.
