I'll let you off, you should be using "world beating" British GMT time though... I will inform Boris about your treachery and I'm sure you will be placed on a list.
Everyman is in the Observer so it's the Sunday crossword for the Graun sister paper.
Morning all. Very good today I thought. It’s the 14th outing for this alliterative grid pattern with the 6,7 enumeration in 1a and the second time we’ve had this letter as the theme. I don’t subscribe to the theory that Everyman is different setters, but you never know!
Sorry to disagree, but I found this annoying. I have "antiticked" 1a, 12a, 15a, 25a, 2d, 6d, and 13d. I also have no idea how the only sensible answer to 21a parses.
Got to this late today as the shocking world news made the rest of the paper more compelling than usual. Quite a straightforward solve especially as I recognised the grid pattern and purposefully looked for the long alliterations. FOI 8 (agree it had a nice smooth surface), LOI 15d because I’d got the last letter and assumed the last word was the more usual one ending in that! Too many nice ones to pick a COD.
12a - Yes, to the anagram - he's a musician who wrote a very, very famous piece of music. Even if you don't the name of it you'll definitely recognise it if you hear it.
14a - Homophone of "first-born" as it relate to inheritance. "affectations" is the definition. - Your letters are correct.
