Chris, yes letters are correct. Knocked off in the fatal sense and a somewhat archaic usage. This was also my LOI.

Thanks. That was one of my candidates, but both definitions are rather loose.

14D was my LOI too! Tempted to think Everyman included it solely to set a PB of three rhyming pairs.

Is the treatment in 11a an arbitrary substitution or is something whooshing over my head?

The T is moved in a sweet "treat". I thought this was a poor clue - is the answer actually a thing?

The parsing of 15d ('I need a hug' offered up - stop !) eludes me. I have assumed ego represents I, and the reverse of grab, for hug, is contained within (or needed). If that's right, one is looking at a non-word. Where does the letter m in the answer come from ?

it's a whimsical expression read upwards. ego doesn't feature!

Pretty average this week I thought. The primarily was a bit ridiculous. 23 my LOI too. I hope 11 is a real thing ChrisE as my feet are currently resting on mine (or have I got the substitution the wrong way?).
