Two left - 21 and 30 - with help from comments on here.
Can't make any sense of 21 or the railway part of 30.
Could you give me some ideas, please.

Hi Pauly,

21d - single letter "love" + "the lakes" is 3,1,1 then finally single letter "love" - definition is "one of the Moors" (a famous Moor from literature)

30a - "Liverpool terminus" is just the 'terminal' letter of the word - it "follows a" then there is a 7 letter "three-way" (new word for me) - definition is "interchange"

21 - Argh! I was thinking Brontes
30 - Yes, should have got that.
Thank you.

Hi Brendan et al

ONly just started even later than usual. I've had a quick look through the thread, but it has just put me off. I hope to make some progress, but doubt I can do it in two hours.

I'll be back

I tried to do this online for a change, as we are changing computers. I found no enjoyment whatsoever, and didn't bother to struggle through the last 2 or 3 in the SE. Botaman's puzzles leave me cold.

As I mentioned above, today's theme also figured in a fairly recent Guardian Prize: #28,458 from June 2021.

Phew! I'm struggling with this one, even with the hints on the forum. Total respect for those who can crack it less than two hours.
My FOI was 25a, a nice change from the Everyman standard, then 21d, which seemed to confuse others.
But then I'm confused by most of the top half. More pondering, methinks.

I saw Brendan's opening comments and thought about giving this a miss; but started a couple of hours ago, and not even half done. I saw a few easy ones in the NE corner and luckily I twigged the theme and went in search of some more (a bit naughty of me, but I know)
Taking a break for now. I may return to it later.

It's been an enjoyable struggle and now the last two to go. Any help appreciated.
6d I have ---V-S, and 8a -E---.
Cheers all
Phil
