HNY everyone (and Everyman)! Enjoyed this but can’t parse the spoonerism or 3d. And can’t find the rhyming pair/trio/whatever.

The "old" in 1d seems unnecessary. I would associate the breeches part more with socks etc.
3d French article in a word for a type of hurt.

sting is the pain with la (the french ) inside

For 1d if you swap the first and fifth letter the spoonerism should become clear

FOI 1a. Embarrassingly 15a was my LOI, it took ages to click!

I liked 16a and 23a. However my COD is 15d purely because Everyman has finally given us a primarily clue with a different indicator , yippee. I hope this is a new year resolution by Everyman :)
