I'd wish you all a peaceful Christmas, but I've a feeling IQ 1731 might have other ideas.

Worth mentioning that this was a smashing puzzle. I hope others enjoyed it as much as I did.

I'm struggling to fill grid, especially LH side. Would love a nudge on 1d and 27d to get me finished and able to move on to endgame.

1d def 'fantastic' (slang) - 4 letters for a band you might wear + another short word for the first two letters of the next word + last word abbreviated.
27 - answer is in the clue once you lose the extra letter - def 'struck' (slang).

1d, I thought of that answer but it left 12a unsolvable. And still is to me !

There is no 12a, lumen - 13a maybe?

Oh yes 13a. Only two Scottish words now fit?

It's a double def - the first is an Americanism ('Trump') usually ''(was) on the ...'' the next word is the def with an extra letter.

...that would be 3 letters, add the necessary ending for the past tense.

Does anyone happen to know when the next Inquisitor puzzle is due to be published. I only usually buy the i on a Saturday.
Will one be printed "in lieu" on Friday or Monday ?
