I thought it was quite difficult. Although I thought the first half of 3d was the name of a spice girl which held me up for ages. 9a and 17a were also excellent. Thanks Mr Everyman!

When I saw the clue for 11d I wondered what on earth we were getting into here…

At first glance this looked like a difficult Everyman but ended up being a pleasantly fast solve although still somewhat challenging in parts so satisfying to complete.

12a I only knew the word ordained in the context of inaugurating a member of the clergy so learned something.

Haven’t posted in ages since moving back to the UK - lots to sort out (admin etc) and have been doing the weekend crosswords later in the day when it feels like all the discussion has happened already. Great to be back in the land of Maltesers, proper cheese, Rich Tea biscuits, kippers, faggots and steak and kidney pudding!

Has exactly the same problem with 3d Nickos. Should have realised it wouldn't have been that obvious! Agree about 9 and 17a too.

Is 10a really meant to be a homophone? If so it must take the prize for being the worst one ever! Or am i barking up the wrong tree completely?
