A fairly gentle solve but good fun, nonetheless.

FOI was 1a followed by 6a.

As I said, not too difficult but if you do get stuck there is a long anagram and a hidden in the acrosses and a lengthy initial letters in the downs.

Wonder of wonders, I actually spotted a rhyming pair!

COD - 12a purely for the image it evokes 😂

Hi Brendan,
This was very standard fare from Everyman.
I looked a bit at 5a and 22d as they seem a bit close clue-wise.
Again a bit of French required.
It will be interesting to see how people react to the first homophone - that usually raises discussions.
The initial clue is extraordinarily long but it is a good description.
We have seen the sportsman recently elsewhere too, and his wife.
All good fun.

Morning all. Something woke me in the middle of the night. Unheard of result - finished in 45 mins. Spotted the rhyming pair (ditto Brendan). Sorry but hate the primarily. Just put the letters on the blank grid. Zzzzz. Above slightly not true. Have not got 10a yet so waiting for the PDM. FOI was 1a which is also a first for me. COD 3d for me. LOI will clearly be 10a.

That is the first homophone I was meaning - to me, it isn’t a great one at all. Think green.

I thought this was tough, but solving was interrupted by a 3+ hour power outage, which perhaps messed up the thought process.
FOI 1a, LOI 24, co-COD 24, 7, 11, 12.
Long solving time. Some good clues, but a couple of clinkers on which I won't dwell, too happy about power coming back on! Thanks to Everyman.

Somewhat on the easier side I’d say, fun nonetheless . 10a raised an eyebrow as has been noted below. And I noted we now have two French rebuttals in two days, Macron will be pleased. Liked 17a, 7d, 3d. Cheers Everyman.
