Phil, I think it’s just that the last word also means fixed, which would render you unable to run.

Slight change to previous ‘alliterative’ grids, in that 1a and 25a are 14s here, and 1a becomes 6,8.

Wasn’t convinced by the anagrind in 1a and it felt unnecessary for a word in the clue to be quite so similar to part of the answer. I also thought 19d should be ‘king perhaps’ as it applies equally to a queen. Otherwise all good fun, thanks Everyman!

Ahh, thanks, Jono. I suspect you're right. Paradoxically, I'd hoped I was missing more than that, though.
COD(s) 2D and 3D are a neat pair of similar clues. Shame Everyman didn't go for the hat trick ... 1D Cockney Lawrence of Arabia's Dacia? (7)

Phil and jono, I think the last word of 12a refers to clothes dye

Adnarim, I had a similar thought, but ‘you’ doesn’t really work if that’s the case

Ah thank you for this reading of 12a — I thought it was a weak clue but this makes more sense.

@jono I think it’s okay to read ‘you’ as =the solver, so “making you” is the ‘bridging text’ between parts of the clue.

Phil, jono, adnarim, crosbie: re 12a, I parsed this thinking that if someone says that to you, it’s a good idea to scarper - quickly! But maybe it makes more sense thinking of dyes, or held firm perhaps. I do like my parsing though, mainly cos it made me laugh.
ParadigmShifter, 19d was my LOI too. I got it from the cryptic part but needed google to confirm that it’s a word.
Pretty straightforward puzzle, but enjoyable all the same.

Hi all. Hope you're all well. Enjoyed this - especially the wonderful 6D.
Can't parse 4D at all even though I'm fairly sure it's correct.
And am totally stomped by 1A despite being sure of 6 of the 7 crossers.
