I thought this was a fine Everyman. The last three or so have been a major upgrade, after a period of inconsistency.
Agreed, there's a wrinkle in the customary "primarily". Alliteration rather than rhyming pair this week. I suppose you could call 8 and 16 a rhyming pair, but I'm more used to the rhymers being of comparable length, often among the 2 to 4 longest of the puzzle.
Also saw a customary homophone, though no real foreign language clue (those have been frequent lately).
FOI was 8 and LOI 19 (quick guess turned out to be correct, but parsing took a while).
COD 6 over a field of 8 runners-up. I enjoyed many clues, thanks to Everyman.
Clue 14 could be considered slightly Pauline.
