Straightforward again this week, I was not familiar with 19D so had to use a solver, when I had everything else.

Not sure about 14A when I looked it up on Wikipedia it said it had a different ending letter although it is pronounced how I wrote it in, and it fits the clue.

Didn't spot a rhyming pair and the primarily clue is slightly trickier than normal I suppose.

Maybe 10A and 21A count as a rhyming pair but they aren't long words or phrases like they usually are.

Chambers did not have 7D as an acceptable plural either.

I think the witty 2D and 3D were my favourite clues.

Hi ParadigmShifter. I agree re. straightforward, although it took me a little longer than I anticipated. FOI 1d. COD 6d. No rhyming couplets but 3 "pairs." 14A has a "shorter" ending than the alternative... LOI 16a. I enjoyed it all.

I got 16A fairly early, not sure how politically correct the first part of the clue is for the Graun though?

I thought this was a fine Everyman. The last three or so have been a major upgrade, after a period of inconsistency.
Agreed, there's a wrinkle in the customary "primarily". Alliteration rather than rhyming pair this week. I suppose you could call 8 and 16 a rhyming pair, but I'm more used to the rhymers being of comparable length, often among the 2 to 4 longest of the puzzle.
Also saw a customary homophone, though no real foreign language clue (those have been frequent lately).
FOI was 8 and LOI 19 (quick guess turned out to be correct, but parsing took a while).
COD 6 over a field of 8 runners-up. I enjoyed many clues, thanks to Everyman.
Clue 14 could be considered slightly Pauline.

If that were so for 16A, then how did they deal with yesterday's nickname? Not stepping any further into this minefield.

I've still got loads of yesterday's prize unfilled so I am avoiding the thread and I haven't seen an inappropriate nickname yet.

Re: the Prize, I can't see a 23A in 15A either (I got that after reading Brendan's first post in the thread, not looked at any more of the thread).

Prize 15a: it's the first 5 letters. That word occasionally pops up in crosswords as a solution (and the full 15a often does). Pointed out by richardk in post 22 of the Prize thread.

To clarify... When I said "yesterday" I was referring to the day, not the Prize puzzle - which I haven't had time to even glance at yet. I realized in hindsight, Geeker, 8a was also my FOI.

12A Can anyone help with parsing this one? I think the answer is obvious but what's it got to do with making running more likely? (I'm expecting to groan at the PDM as, fairly uniquely, there hasn't been one of them for me this week.)
