I have removed V. But my problem is with the right hand column. I wanted the word ‘over’ but haven’t enough spaces. And I haven’t got all the 13=letters needed from the down clues to find the title of a book. I guess I have to give up. Thank you all.

Jogamel, don't give up now. Remember the bit about the vowels, and the number/total of the two columns is significant in its own way.

It’s worth persevering, Jogamel. Your V is correct; there are no repeated letters. The 13 letters may look like nonsense until you have all or most of them.

You should have a missing consonant too on the RHS, because it has already appeared earlier and therefore is not repeated?

Jogamel, glad you are almost there. I really enjoyed the recoding and highlighting, so I hope you find that bit fun.

Enjoying this, as Malone said pretty tough, but nearly filled grid. 24d is eluding me, a tip would be great.

Lumen, A letter is added to words 1 & 6, def. is 'a mound'

As others have said, this is very difficult but very enjoyable - still a long way to go:-)

I'm sure what the answer is mattrom, thanks. And what the letter must be too, but not seeing the parsing at all! Too many words in the clue!
