Is 23a what I think it is? If so, yuk.

Dunno, This is harder than last week though. Only filled in the NW corner really.

Hi everyone,
To me this is a bit of a shambles as I have all the spaces filled but am unhappy with more clues than usual. The rhymes an initial are present but I feel unsatisfied having finished it.
I think 23a is an abbreviated term but the clue is not good.
Hope you all do better.

I stalled out on the LHS. Had to Google to find the answer to 17, then made progress, but 23 is the only one remaining unsolved. My crossers (based on a shaky answer to 14) are U_I_, there's an obvious try for the first 2 letters, but I can't parse a solution.

Have my "final" solution for 23, agree that the clue is not a winner.
Regret to say that I didn't greatly enjoy this effort from Everyman.

Hi Peter,
It is a marine mammal using another name for a raven.

10 is a backward clue, parses as 3, 1. The 3 is a term for "Raven" (n) minus the last letter, reversed.

Not a great one this week. I have one left, 2D: days before, golfer becomes upset (4). I have E.E. Tried to fit in the usual South African golfer but clearly not him. Help!
