I am having trouble parsing 22d. The rest was pretty straightforward so must be having a moment!

The hole "sounds like" the answer

22d - first part is the definition (think West, Largo), second part is a homophone.

I think 22d may cause trouble to anyone who inadvertently used the wrong second letter to get something else that’s a hole of sorts. I did the same until I sussed the parsing after staring at it for a while.

I enjoyed this crossword, and am grateful to this forum for the parsing of 27a, and of 1a. I had never heard of the second part of the answer being used in that context before. I didn't have a problem with the first part being a homophone of back though, even if it is a bit loose.

I do take issue with the definition of 22 though. I get the homophone (a hole) but surely the answer is NOT the same as a key - if that's a key as in key west etc. I know there are squillions of different definitions for key, but I don't think that the answer equates to any of them.

Hi , had the same issue with the last letter of 15, and also parsing 11. Obviously I've been out of London for too long!

I won't mention my pet peeve of the primarily clue ... Doh!

And am I the only one that is struggling to parse 19, am I missing the bleeding obvious again?

I suspect you have the wrong second letter in 22 - the answer is an accurate definition of a "key".

Why is it as soon as I post I get the PDM?

I'd completely forgotten about 3 card .....

I also had the wrong second letter in 22, no wonder I was a bit confused, it makes much more sense now!

Hello! I actually understand 1ac if anyone needs help. The second part is something a witch's animal is known as.

I have answers for 12a and 8d but they don't make sense.

12a is Elderly relatives transfixed by Brussels body, one serving Europeans.

8d is move fast, with bravery at last, daring to find source of spirit (6,6)

I think I have the second word (= bravery). The first: ?h???e

What I've put makes no sense at all. Thanks!
