10 is a motorcycle manufacturer.

The last 8 letters of 1 should be (tries to think of another word...) recognisable for non UK solvers if they know about wizards, witches and all that (or played D&D). I wrote those letters in (from crossers)
before I worked out the first 4 letters.

Both of my grandmas had 11s in the bath, they were probably very popular early 70s or before. They also had a stone you rubbed on yourself to remove dead skin. I thought it had another letter on the end though.

It's rare to see East End used that way though. I can't say that letter combination properly either and I'm from the North of the UK. Probably ruined my maths teacher career ambitions since I can't say one of the letters of the Greek alphabet properly :( Either that or only going to 8 lectures out of 200 in the final year lol.

You’ll have to enlighten me further on 1, please. I know the sponge, although usually with an h at the end, but I still can’t figure the “East End” word.

I couldn't fit charge as the first word in 8 because I had solved 12A beforehand, since I had the first 3 crossers already. Which is what made me think again about 15A.

I have seen easier Everyman's but not too many. I think once you know what to look for (and they are all present and correct like today, just missing a reverse hidden I think) they are straightforward. Still enjoyable, but I agree this isn't great if it's a Halloween special, could try harder.

I find the Quiptic on Monday significantly harder than the Everyman for some reason. Usually Monday's cryptic is easier than the Quiptic for me!

MPRS, I have the same problem with my speech - it's no good being a maths teacher if you keep saying sine feeta ;)

And the theologian should be obvious then.

Too much 1, 10, 11 confusion going on in this thread lol! I guess everyone means 11 (which is the same as 10 for large values of 10).

Anyway the East End of London thing is not just dropping H's at the beginning it's also TH -> F and removing R's from the end of words as well. I also drop T's in the middle of words so I would be more sine fee'a than theta ;) No wonder no one could understand me in the US and Germany.

Reminds me of that advert with "The wa'a in Myor'a don't taste like wot it or'a" ("The water in Majorca seldom tastes like how it should").

I was just disappointed that when they cast Ray Winstone as King Enerry the Aiff he didn't get to say "Anne Boleyn you slaaag!".
