Not that it affects the grid, but I differ on my list of thematic clues. I can only parse 10a by making it one of the removals, and the only candidate mentioned above which could conceivably parse either way is 27a, depending on whether you abbreviate or anagram “down”.

Quisling, I parsed 10 as a normal clue - word for "as it would seem" minus (but) the last letter of furtile. 27 is thematic I think - reversal of three-letter word for cheer + anagram of down.

I see exactly that definition in Chambers now, Loge, so I’m sure you’re right!

Finding it tough getting on Radler's wavelength but just have some of the SE corner left and have got the 3-word phrase and can see a couple of likely related things in the title.

A helping hand with 46a would be appreciated. (Must diner run...) I can make an anagram fit and see a small pig in it but not a large pigeon. Similarly, 33a (Second example duplicated...). I have a word that fits but doesn't tie into the clue very well. I guess it has additions?

Thanks.

Malone. So it is! Thanks, I never knew that even though I grew up in a house with a pigeon loft behind it!

Thanks, Granam1. For 33 A, I think the two outer and two end letters give the 'stamp'. the two in the middle are thematic (and defined in Chambers).

Thanks Malone. 46a got me on track for the end game as did spotting the 8 letter word. Just got one letter to sort for 34d for a full grid and work out the + and - for that and about 3 others...which may take some time!

Hello!

I've finished this lovely little puzzle, but for one thing - the parsing of 33a. I've read Malone's hint below, but I'm still not seeing it. I'm assuming the first two words are the definition, but how does the wordplay work. And is the thematic item a two-letter abbreviation?

Thanks,
Suzannah
