I had the same thought regarding 24A, Barry. One of several shaky clues this week imo.

Re 12a the ‘odd parts’ are ‘wanting’ hence you are left with the evens, so it works I think

Nearly finished except for two.
FOI 1a so I looked for other alliterations which helped.
If I had the 5d poet, it might help me with the 11a spoonerism, which no one seems to have mentioned.

Hi Rossim, see Brendan’s post @23 for 5d. 11a is a former PM, the Spoonerised body parts are a bit random

I enjoyed this, although not sure I would have got 16a without your help Brendan , thank you.

I enjoy a pun, so 22 made me laugh. I assume 2 is a pun on the first 4 letters?

My only bugbear is that I'm getting a bit bored with primarily being used so often as the indicator.

At first as a beginner it helped lead me into a start , which was capital. However now foremost of all I think Everyman should do summit about it, show leadership, use their head, and not just go with their prime opening indicator. Which would be tip top

Good point Jono re 12A. I'd read 'wanting' as just a link to the second half of the clue. Surface is still execrable, though!
