6a: Look up the first three letters in Chambers. It is also a slang for noisy scene. Crossword setters usually thrive on such slangs or obscure definitions to make their puzzles more difficult.
I always find it consoling to see that there were so many (51!) entries. That means lots of solvers were having trouble. I sailed along and then got stuck. I understand 13 now -- have to pay more attention to clues like 'said'. The one I can't parse is 12. Help please?
\Thanks
Hi catcharmer,
12… 6 letter word for pilots (as a verb) reversed around one letter for time (the first one), followed by a 5 letter word for ‘each’ (as in ‘how much would they cost ‘each’)
