Thanks for clearing that up, loge. What had me wondering was your post at 18 -

I wasn't exactly sure what that meant but I should have asked at the time (and I think it was murky who raised the issue again some time later).

Looks like you've got it, mathprofrockstar - some of the 4 letter nouns for the consideration synonym are quite odd but they're close enough to the one used in the clue to justify it I think.

sorry, that's a bit garbled but I hope you get the drift (...some of the nouns for the 4 letter synonym...' is what I was trying to say).

Drxx, I'd got it into my head that two the clues in Set 2 were in the wrong order, prompted perhaps by others raising the same point (and a rather nice bottle of Chablis). In retrospect I was wrong and I'm now satisfied all is as it should be. Apologies for any confusion. Note to self: Think before you drink before you post!

Thanks, drxx. I have the grid filled now, although there are a few parsings I need to figure. But I can see easily what the extra letters are anyway. And I’ve put it all into a search engine, and have concluded that I am done. I do have a friend who partakes in this pastime, but I have zero interest.

No real confusion, just a tiny niggle - thanks again loge (I don't even need the lubricant for some of my 'moments').

Loge, did you hear the one about the math(s) prof who made several mistakes in his Calculus notes after too many glasses of wine? This goes to show that you should never drink and derive. I'll get my coat.

I did calculus at school, but I never got on with it because I didn't fit in with the rest of the class. Guess I wasn't much good at integrating...
