Volume 1 ends on page 1280. Volume 2 ends on page 2672.
It’s a long read!

Jono, I feel a little envy creeping over me! Is the print/typeface a decent size? (A good answer woul be 'No', then I wouldn't feel quite so deprived.)

Oh dear, sorry Malone, it’s in a very readable print size. Printed in 1973. I can see it cost £25 then. And edited by “CT ONIONS”
Here he is…

Thanks, Jono. I might invest in a copy. I'm off to read up on your link, it's time I knew my onions (your Onions).

I have the complete OED in one volume. To achieve this each leaf contains nine pages of the original in a 3x3 arrangement and in such small print that a magnifying glass is supplied to help reading it.

I thought you were joking Orson but it really does come with a magnifying glass - at £400 on Amazon!

There’s an amusing book called ‘Satisdiction’ by Ammon Shea which is his account of reading the OED from beginning to end. I’m not sure if it’s still in print but it’s the sort of book you can open at any page and enjoy some fun words

One change I've noticed since we regained most of our freedoms is the presence of dogs in cafes and shops. This never used to happen before and it's not just one cafe or one shop that is being lenient. Is it just my experience? Does anyone here think it is right? (I'm not a dog owner but I'm not anti-dog per se.)

Grunger & Jigjag

Sad news about the Old Trafford Test - I think the Indian Cricket Board are more concerned that the IPL goes ahead as planned.

IMHO Test Cricket is, and should remain, the `pinnacle` of the sport but the Cricket Authorities seem determined to promote endless `white ball` tournaments to the detriment of `First Class` Cricket.
