Paul..., thanks for that - all those appearances, that's wicked.

I really liked it when I first came across wicked, as in wick-ed, candles and so on - but it had a little flurry then, and appeared too often. It took itself off for a while, but is obviously back in favor.

I had to cheat to find the answer - wick-ed does seem to be popular with setters.

Paul, after two days in a row, I’m certainly going to remember that pronunciation of wicked. I could use a little help with the parsing though. I don’t get where the first two letters come from. Is “namely” = SC? If so, why?

Interesting full moon this weekend, a seasonal blue moon… the third full moon in an astronomical season (the time between a solstice and equinox) that has four full moons. Next one is in August 2024. Curious that it’s the third occurrence in a sequence of four that is considered the odd one out

My (admittedly rather old) shorter OED in two volumes is split A-Markworthy (vol 1) and Marl-Z (vol 2). The decision to split it at that precise point between ‘markworthy’ and ‘marl’ has always mystified me
