I pretty much sailed through this until I came to the crossing 15a/14d which held me up for a while and, in truth, I'm still not entirely sure how 14d parses but no doubt someone will have an explanation.

FOI was 1d followed by 9a.

If you do get stuck there's a long anagram and a hidden in the acrosses and a long anagram in the downs.

The ever popular "initially" clue made a comeback as well this week 😜

COD - A toss-up between 18d and 17a.

As always, please feel free to leave a comment and, if you get do stuck - don't hesitate to ask for a hint.

Stay safe:-)

Hi Brendan,
I think 16 appeared in Paul's recent Prize magnum opus, with a different spelling.
Thanks to Everyman, I found this tougher than last week's but not unusually challenging.
FOI 6, COD 14 over 12. LOI 2, which I found a bit dubious.

14 parses as hearing (7) + "little thing..."* (3).

*could be positive or negative :-)

I'm having trouble parsing 11, pretty sure of answer.
Happy to see the "first letters" clue.

Hi Brendan. That's EXACTLY what I was going to say. I've been trying to figure out which way round for 15a/14d. Everything else was an absolutely refreshing breeze.

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for the summary.

Without trying to spoil, I had the first part of the solution to 14d related to "law" and the last to "science".

Okay, thanks guys.

11d - Will be difficult to parse for overseas solvers as the "comedian" is a British and I'm not sure how well known he is beyond these shores..

First 2 letters are "current account" + 6 letter "booze" around a 4 letter "comedian".

11D is the abbreviation for a UK bank account. Drink is a light alcoholic mixed drink. Don't know the comedian. I've been away too long !

14d - I get it now, I was too busy looking for a homophone - thanks again all:-)

Thanks, Brendan. I see the parsing, but didn't know the comedian.
Funny, the other half of the rhyming pair was also unknown to me, but I had no trouble parsing it.
The usage of 17 is unfamiliar to this American. 😕

PDM on 15a finally. My whole reasoning had been back to front (or front to back)

Hi all,
I would give the comedian 8 out of 10!
A decent crossword with no real traps although you need the adjectival use in 20a. I was looking for a noun.
Liked 26a.
