Thanks, Norah.

Olderwoman, it's always good to give the clue - then those of us without a copy can help/try to help!

older woman, the O, M and S are correct, the straight clue is "disposes of."

Here’s the clue…
Disposes of Tories with hesitant utterances about Europe (8)

Older woman your E is wrong, the definition is at the beginning of the clue…

Just got round to doing this and really enjoyed it. Thanks also to David for parsing 21a where I just couldn't see the "leaderless state"! 😜

COD I think is 18d which is just excellent 😀

Back to Fawlty Towers, I didn’t know this until today, but all episodes are rated PG (parental guidance), not surprising, ... except one! One episode is rated “12 certificate” (a stricter rating) and this is purely due to the ‘anagram’ on the signage in the intro. This has all the makings of a great pub quiz question! ;-)

Can you help with parsing 5d and 8d please?

5d - Is it a Yorkshire radio station with an s for covers?

8d - Goa is as far as I can go!

5 is a "sounds like"
8 is an anagram. Goa isn't part of it.

Hi Jmdc,

5d - The "on radio" indicates the clue is a homophone. In this instance the answer sounds like something ladies might use to "cover" their faces and the definition is "glens" (begins with V)

8d - Is an anagram of "seedy Sao Paulo" (begins with D)

Busy father's Day (maybe 4d is related to this?) and only just got around to finishing.

It sounds like it was a marmite Everyman today, and I'm afraid I'm firmly in the group that didn't enjoy it much. I found a lot of the parsing just too bitty for my taste.

Thanks Brendan and Chris, got them now. It would have helped if I had had the right answer to 8d!
