Ignore my earlier comment @6 re gainsaying, I understand that now, giving doesn’t work in the same way.

I thought 6d was a poor clue. First 2 letters are the first 2 of a type of wine ("most of"), then Everyman inside a type of spirit.
19 English beer inside a letter for "dutch" (German would be better, but it's used elsewhere, I think), single letter for society, then a joint.
You can find M standing for money in dictionaries. It's a technical usage.
Jack and the beanstalk. "Therefore" would be better than "then".

Phil, for 6d... first 2 letters are “most of wine” (2/3 of a bottle, say!) letters 3, 4 and 7 are “spirits” or more accurately “spirit”. Letters 5 & 6 are Everyman.

19ac... first letter Dutch, last four letters I read as “society” but a bit of a loose definition. “English beer runs” gives letters 2-6.

jono, 1a reminded me of a kenny everett sketch, "So this bus breaks down, and the driver
(kenny) gets out to try and fix it. The lady bus conductress (cleo rocos) gets out too, and says 'D'you want a 1a?' - and the driver replies 'Leave it out, I'm late enough already.'"

Thanks Chris
6D: I (stupidly) kept seeing the single letter for Everyman, rather than the alternative. Still don't understand what 'needing healthier' is doing in the clue though. And it definitely should be spirit (sing.).
19D: As you say, German would make more sense, and the other single letter abbreviation is another one that has passed me by (c.v. 26A).
26A Yes, 'therefore' is a better synonym so it's a mystery why the setter didn't use it. As far as I can remember, that particular Jack came down the beanstalk, too. There's an actor called Jack North (thanks Google), but I suspect he's too obscure even for this setter. Maybe we should think of jacking up a car? (Although, again, I reckon a car is jacked DOWN once the tyre has been changed!)

Thanks Richard
Yep, I was trying to shoehorn the last four letters of 19A into that definition, too, but I reckon Chris's explanation makes more sense ... Still don't like the single letter, though!

Hi everyone! My first visit in ages (previously Lostintranslation). Somehow relieved to see I'm not the only one struggling with 20 d, even with all the hints, tips and ideas given by the other solvers. So I'm left with 3 letters missing to cross the finish line.
