My appreciation to all who have helped. I'd appreciate a nudge on 18 across and a parsing of 8 down. Otherwise there: a nice puzzle at just about the right level of difficulty for me - so my thanks to Aver.

Thanks krauton, all done now. Though what this has to do with the price of lemons is anyone's guess!

Williamseal, did the hint at post 32 not help? If so, maybe someone else will come up with something better.

My 8 Down is correct, I'm sure, but unparsed!

williamseal, I think 8d parses as follows:

Definition "Florida wetlands".

Against "vs" into which is inserted, in reverse (regressive) "i" for international and "ELL", losing one of the Ls as the extra letter.

I hope I've managed to get across what I'm trying to say. This sans typeface makes it difficult to differentiate between a capital "i" and a lower case "L".

Apologies for that last post, the last 7 or 8 posts didn't come up for me and then suddenly appeared. So it's somewhat out of date.

Krauton - without wishing to start the usual and well worn row about what level of help is appropriate, I'd say giving away the theme and the whole secret message on Saturday afternoon is a bit much. People generally provide hints to help with specific questions which seems to work quite well. Others may well have other opinions however....

All done except that I cannot parse 22 across. A hint would be most welcome.
