I enjoyed this too. Quite a few clues in the bottom half took some getting. COD 9a. Re 18d, the online dictionary that came up for me had turn, as in bend, as a meaning for crank.

Very enjoyable today, a few write-ins but several I had to work at with a couple of hints from here, thanks all. As a socialist, I like to see Clem getting a mention.
FOI 6a ( I wonder if the younger generation will understand this), LOI 21d, COD the elegant 26a.

This weather is too hot for my taste, but I hope everyone is enjoying themselves while keeping safe. Have a good week all

No-one has mentioned the rhyming pair.
I had to go back and look for it!

I was happy to get all the answers myself and/or with the forum's help, but noone mentioned 20ac for which I have a strong drink but have no idea of the parsing. I'm sure it's very clever.

20: defn. "drink", first word is "a well-aimed dart", second word is ("five hundred" inside "very fine") followed by "one".

Hi, all. Late to this but just finished the tricky SE corner with the forum’s help. I was going to say 23A was my COD for it’s delightful simplicity, but I just finally parsed 5D & the PDM makes it my COD.
Stay safe and cool

Hi all - can someone help with the parsing of 7D. I think I have the right answer but can’t parse it for the life of me. Thanks in advance.

Hi SN,

7d - This is pretty tricky because "natter" seems to be both the definition and part of the wordplay. Assuming I've parsed it correctly it's

4 letter "natter" around an anagram of F(rot)H + WEE + T(ime)
