Sorry Brendan, yes 8d. Many thanks indeed, I've never seen that before.

This went in much more quickly than I first thought it was going to. A couple went in from definition only - 10a and 7d. Any hints on the parses?

In 26a, wouldn't a larger number than one have been more accurate?

10a - Is just a double definition - "approach (shot) to green" and what "Americans" call our "crisp(s)"

7d - 3 letter "to write" + 3 letter "quotation" + 3 letter "pack"

26a - I took it mean that "pips" was "one" example of the answer ("stroke" might be another)

Thanks Brendan. I didn't know that Americans had a different word for crisps! What do they call the answer, then?
With 7d, I was working with the first 4 letters for the "pack", so couldn't get any farther.

Wouldn't it be "pip" rather than "pips"?

I don't Americans really eat 10a do they? We'll have to ask Geeker and other posters from across the pond.

On Radio 4 they still play the pips on the hour.

Sorry Chris, I misunderstood. I should have said that the "for one" is meant as in "Pips" is one example/"for one" (and stroke" would be another). I don't think it means "one" as in one 'o' clock - that's how I read it anyway.
