A relatively straightforward grid fill bar a few stinkers (36 down took me ages to parse). I have the intruders, have arranged them to give the culprit (I think) but am unable to find the proverb. I have a few ideas of what it should be but don't have ODP or ODQ6 and can't find confirmation online. I'll be interested to see how others get on with the last stage!

I’ve filled the grid but only identified 7 clashes. I can’t make sense of the 7 I have: ABDHINT. What am I missing?

The letters need to be jumbled to give the 3,5. You're missing a G from where 29 and 36 cross with a clash.

Not just me then! I have a idea the proverb contains the culprit (possibly pluralised) and/or a 5-letter word for which the 3,5 could be a cryptic clue - but can't find anything that fits.

Loge, the proverb does contain the culprit pluralised. It’s in ODQ (I know you don’t have it), and Wiktionary, and it explains the number of letters in each of the clashing cells

Tke COO (Chief Operating Officer) from the front of a phrase meaning 'chill'

A tablet (e) in a racing driver.

The quote is in the index of the ODQ under the first word.
