Hi FrSteve,

I really enjoyed 12a and had it circled as a possible COD but didn't choose it because of a bit of a disconnect between "constant" and "nude" - if it had said "constantly nude" it would have sounded much better but, of course, it wouldn't have parsed properly.

On such fine margins do these thing hang! 😜

Still 7 words shy of completion, giving up for the night, but agree on 12, looking very much like COD.

Just starting to make progress having completely missed the fact that there is special instruction to begin with and then not properly understanding it, but it clicked eventually.

I’ve also just read Maskarade’s (Tom Johnson) bio (link on 225) and noted he has a rather unusual interest (see last line). Warning - do not read this until you’ve figured out the theme words, or you want a hint ;-)

I also miss Araucaria! I usually do Maskarade's and sometimes enjoy them, but not as much as Araucaria's.
On my first read through I have solved 4, ha! 8d was my first and 27d first theme one.
No doubt I'll be coming back for hints later!

I looked at this and saw
a) it was Maskarade
b) it was jumbo-sized
c) it had tricksy clues
Any one of those would have been a reason not to bother!

38a - A (from the clue) + 2 letter (acronym) "Jersey" + 5 letter "sewer" - definition is "precipitation".

Got that but don’t see the acronym
